Members of the Fulda community began investigating the possibility of a community nursing home. The Fulda Area Nursing Home Development Association was established in August of 1961.
In October 1961, the name was proposed to be Maple Lawn Nursing Home. It was to be operated as a for profit corporation with shares selling for $50.
In September of 1962, Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Inc. was established as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of Minnesota. The project was financed through $100 membership donations, bond sales and other donations. Several local companies and organizations made substantial donations.
In January of 1963, the first general meeting of the membership was held – directors were elected and a building site was selected. The A.C. Dohrmann Construction Company was chosen to build the facility. Ground was broken on October 17, 1963 and construction began immediately.
The first residents were admitted on June 8, 1964.
During the 70s & 80s Maple Lawn builds a reputation for consistent quality care. It upgrades and maintains facilities and becomes a cornerstone of the community.
In 1979, the pink ladies celebrated their anniversary at Maple Lawn.
In 1984, Maple Lawn celebrated their 20th Anniversary.
In 1990, a new chapel was added. In that same year, four new resident rooms were added at the end of the center wing, allowing more office and therapy space. This addition eliminated rooms with more that two occupants.
In 1995 construction began on the Mapleview Estates apartment building.
The 24 apartments attached to the Northeast corner of the senior care were opened in June of 1996.
In March of 2001, a major remodeling project was completed at the Senior Care. The project added living and dining room space and office space. It revitalized the resident rooms with new windows, floor covering and vanities.
Construction is began on a 15 unit assisted living apartment building in the Fall of 2003.
In 2004 Maplewood Court Assisted Living was completed. The project included adding a state-of-the art emergency power generator. In November, 2004, Maple Lawn received a very welcome donation of a golf cart and passenger trailer donated from the John and Esther McLaughlin Foundation of Marshall, Minnesota.
Maple Lawn received a donation from Prairie Rehabilitation Services for the purchase of new therapy equipment.
Maple Lawn adopts a golden retriever named Cooper.
Maple Lawn received a generous donation that went towards the purchase of new bedside stands for the resident rooms.
Maple Lawn Senior Care began using a new logo.
Maple Lawn Senior Care celebrates 50 years with a special program and carnival for the community.
Maple Lawn Senior Care underwent a major renovation. All three wings were repainted. A new small conference room, MDS nurse office, and reception area were added. The B-wing bathing room got a complete makeover to make it a “spa-like” environment, including the installation of a new bathing tub. The nurse’s station was remodeled. A new sign was erected at the front entrance. A new sign of the logo was put on the wall behind the reception desk.
In May of 2017, Maple Lawn Senior Care purchased 54 new beds to replace the older beds in the facility.
